Over 25 years ago K. Ellis Ritchie, founder of the Firm, began his experience in eminent domain cases, also called condemnation cases. Mr. Ritchie's experience began before he graduated from law school when the firm with which he was employed received a contract to represent the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority in a large number of cases related to the contruction of a new turnpike. Mr. Ritchie, as a legal intern, received the responsibility of preparing the cases for trial and settlement conferences. He worked with engineers, appraisers, and government officials preparing and building the cases as well as motion work and briefing and even appeal briefing.
In 1993 when Mr. Ritchie founded the Ritchie Law Firm he immediately made the transition from primarily working for the government to primarily working for landowners in condemnation cases. Since those early years Mr. Ritchie has represented hundreds of private landowners in condemnation cases all across the state of Oklahoma and adjoining states. The variety of eminent domain cases handled by the Ritchie Law Firm include airport cases, highway cases, pipeline cases, power line cases, water and sewer facility case, and others. Mr. Ritchie continues to do a limited amount of condemnation work for various municipalities and counties in Oklahoma.
